Greenville Marble & Granite Works is a family owned and operated business founded in 1933 by John A. Conway, Sr. Relocating to Greenville from the North Carolina Coast; Mr. Conway initially worked for Carolina Marble and Granite. Shortly thereafter he purchased the company and renamed it as Greenville Marble & Granite Works. Mr. Conway ran his company successfully until he passed away in 1946, leaving the company to his son, John Jr. and his wife, Earleen Stocks Conway, managed and owned the company until 1993. At that time John, III purchased Greenville Marble & Granite from his father, John, Jr.
Since 1993, Greenville Marble & Granite has grown from being only one location serving Pitt and surrounding counties to expanding into over nine locations and serving all of Eastern North Carolina. John Conway, III, President and CEO is running the company alongside his son, John IV and daughter, Lauren C. Kennedy,VP the fourth generation.
